Acacia Camping

Acacia Camp offers the best of Botswana Camping. Situated on the eastern edge of the Okavango Delta, the campsite serves as an ideal base for exploring Botswana’s wilderness. Perfectly positioned between Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park, it provides easy access to some of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife areas. Whether you’re heading to Khwai, Moremi South Gate, Moremi North Gate, Linyanti, or Chobe, Acacia Camp offers a convenient and comfortable stopover for your journey.

The Acacia camp’s campsite is located in an unfenced bushveld and allows wildlife to roam freely, offering visitors the chance to encounter resident lions, herds of elephants, and an array of other species in their natural habitat.

The camp accommodates various group sizes: Acacia 1 hosts up to 21 guests, while Acacia 2 – 5 each host up to 10 guests. Each site includes a bucket shower, flush toilet, and wash basin, though guests must bring their own tents. Water for showers can be heated over the fire, and firewood is provided for the first night, with additional wood available for purchase at the main lodge.

Due to sandy roads, a 4×4 vehicle is required for access.

Self-drivers traveling from Maun Airport will exit Maun, following the tar road in the direction of Mababe on the Seretse Khama Road. Continue heading north through the town on this road – it curves east, crosses the Thamalakane River, and leads to a traffic circle. Take the first exit towards Shorobe. From the traffic circle, it’s 27 km north to Shorobe.

As you pass through Shorobe, the tar road ends, transitioning to a gravel road leading to Mawana Gate (Buffalo veterinary fence), approximately 18 km ahead. From the gate, continue straight until you reach a fork in the road. Keep right and follow the road to Sankuyo Village, about 25 km further.

From Sankuyo, continue 5.5 km to the Acacia Camping turnoff on your left. Turn left and follow the signs for Acacia Camping to reach the campsite.

Coming from South Gate, drive back towards the Buffalo gate – if you reach buffalo gate you have gone too far. Before you reach buffalo gate you turn left and follow the main road for 25km to Sankuyo village. Acacia Camp is signposted on the left-hand side of the road, 5.5 km out of Sankuyo.
